It's been a long time since the last Jurassic Park film. Over a dozen years have passed since fans last returned to the park, and for much of that time, it was unclear if they would even get to go back. What started as one of the biggest blockbusters of its time basically disappeared overnight. After the third film, Jurassic Park was just...gone.

After years of production trouble, the fourth film in the franchise is back on track, and while it might not be much, at least there's confirmation that progress is being made. Late last night, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow tweeted out the first official poster for the upcoming film.

True, there's not much in the way of actual detail, but it's nice to see that the production is still moving along smoothly. On top of that, it's just really nice to see that skeletal logo again.

For the longest time, it looked as if the Jurassic Park franchise was gone for good. Following Jurassic Park III, the franchise fell into development limbo. Many cited issues with the script, which held back any progress, and the unfortunate passing of the series' original author, Michael Crichton, almost killed the film entirely.

Thankfully, that wasn't the case. Rumblings of a new trilogy began to form in the summer of 2013, and late last year, it was revealed that the fourth movie would be titled Jurassic World. Production finally began moving forward: in April, principal photography began in Hawaii, and by Aug. 5, Trevorrow announced that filming had wrapped.

It seems that it won't be much longer before movie-goers finally get to return to the park. Jurassic World is set to debut on June 12, 2015.
