Best Buy will be holding a midnight launch for the PlayStation VR, which is great news for gamers who would like to be among the first ones to try out Sony's virtual reality system for the PlayStation 4.

According to a post on the official Best Buy website, 350 stores of the massive retail company will open at 12:01 a.m. ET on the release date of the PlayStation VR, which is on Oct. 13.

The launch time will be simultaneous among all the selected Best Buy stores in the United States, so locations in the Central time zone will open at 11:01 p.m., those in the Mountain time zone will open at 10:01 p.m. and those on the West Coast will open at 9:01 p.m., all on the evening of Oct. 12.

Gamers who will not be able to make it on the midnight launches of the PlayStation VR will still be able to purchase the virtual reality headset in the normal hours of Best Buy retail stores and on the company's online store. However, stocks will be in limited quantities.

To check if the nearby Best Buy store is among the locations participating in the PlayStation VR midnight launch, head to the Gaming Events page of the company's website. Under the PlayStation VR event, the dropdown box will first ask gamers the state they are in.

The stores participating in the midnight launch in that state will then be shown in a second dropdown box that will appear. Clicking on the Go button after selecting a certain store will show its details, including a map to the store and its contact number.

The PlayStation VR, which will be sold at $399 each, will come with a physical demo disc that will include eight ready-to-play titles for the platform. The disc could be Sony's way of making sure that players who receive the PlayStation VR on launch day will instantly have the means to jump into virtual reality through the games included.

The titles included in the demo disc are Battlezone, Driveclub VR, EVE: Valkyrie, Headmaster, PlayStation VR Worlds, RIGS Mechanized Combat League, Tumble VR and Wayward Sky.

For gamers who are planning to purchase the PlayStation VR soon, the two weeks until the release of the virtual reality headset can be spent preparing the living room for virtual reality. A brochure for the system revealed that gamers will need a play area of about 9.8 feet lengthwise and 6.2 feet crosswise, which is about 60 square feet of space.
