If you've been hankering for the One smartphone from China-based OnePlus (but were not on the invite list), this could be your chance to grab the handset.

On Oct. 27, OnePlus is opening preorders for the One. However, there is a catch: you need to be super quick as the Shenzhen-based startup is dedicating only an hour for the preorders. If you are swift, then you'll be able to purchase the One within this limited time window.

The preorders for the One will go live on Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET) and will last an hour. People who have not received an invite are also eligible to participate.

"While the preorder system won't completely replace the current invites method, it is certainly a huge step towards expanding the reach of OnePlus," says the company.

Users can also avail themselves of the "skip the queue" option and if they are lucky they may get an invite while they are waiting.

"Hate waiting in line? You can jump the queue and knock the 'pre' out of preorder if you get a OnePlus Invite while you're waiting," reveals OnePlus on its preorder page.

OnePlus launched the One in April, pricing the 16 GB and 64 GB models for $299 and $349, respectively. The company has opted for an interesting marketing strategy and instead of retailing the smartphone via carriers, in the first two weeks of October, it sent out 20,000 to 30,000 invites in batches. Only people who had received the invite were eligible to order the One, which runs on a custom version of CyanogenMod.

OnePlus' 5.5-inch One with a 1080p screen has caught the fancy of consumers not only because it's elusive, but also because it packs in top-end features, which are great value for money.

OnePlus is also collaborating with JBL and is selling the E1 earphone for $24.99 for a limited time period. Once the collaboration is over, the earphones will go back to full price. Moreover, all OnePlus accessories will also be offered at discounted prices if purchased with the One smartphone.
