More rumors surrounding the OnePlus 4 have been cropping up, and this time around, the new word in town says the next iteration of the flagship killer has a June or July release date and a Snapdragon 830 in tow.

To get a better idea at what might possibly be in store, let's dissect the current details at hand, splitting up the alleged chipset and the release date.

The Unannounced Snapdragon 830

Qualcomm has yet to make the Snapdragon 830 official, and that means whether or not the chipset will indeed find a place under the hood of the OnePlus 4 more or less seems unlikely.

To corroborate that, Samsung was previously rumored to exclusively manufacture the processor using the 10nm process, but recent reports indicate that Qualcomm is handing over the task to TSMC because the South Korean brand has "fallen behind schedule."

However, if the Snapdragon 830 will indeed power the OnePlus 4, then it's safe to assume that the Snapdragon 820 successor will break cover before or by June or July.

The Rumored Release Date

As mentioned earlier, the OnePlus 4 is reportedly going to arrive in either June or July.

Going over the smartphone maker's history of releases, the OnePlus One was announced in April 2014 and launched in June and the OnePlus 2 in July 2015 and then in August. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 3 was unveiled in June earlier this year and rolled out in the same month.

That means the company usually lets handsets loose between the second quarter and the middle of the third quarter, and if anything, that gives the rumored release date of the OnePlus 4 a bit of weight.

The Alleged Specs Of The OnePlus 4

A quick word on the purported core specs of the OnePlus 4: Aside from the Snapdragon 830, the handset may house a 4,000 mAh battery to keep the lights on and 8 GB of RAM and run on Android 7.0 Nougat right off the bat.

The Other Smartphone: The OnePlus 3T

It's also worth mentioning that this development comes hot on the heels of when the OnePlus 3T started making rounds online, which is said to be $80 more than the OnePlus 3.

Priced at $479, it's reportedly going to get some pretty significant upgrades across the board — Snapdragon 821, 6 GB of RAM, Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and a Sony IMX398 sensor powering the primary camera.

Interestingly enough, the OnePlus 3T is believed to start shipping out sometime in mid-2017, and to put two and two together, it could strut down the smartphone market hand in hand with the OnePlus 4.

The Bottom Line

Before wrapping things up, it should be pointed out that the source of the leak comes from none other than Weibo.

Needless to say, we're just working with rumors here, so a grain — or better yet, a generous serving — of salt is recommended.

At any rate, assuming that the OnePlus 4 really has a June or July release date and a Snapdragon 830, will you be willing to wait a couple of months to get your hands on it? Drop by our comments section below and let us know.
