HTC is currently preparing to launch its 2017 flagship smartphone, the HTC 11. A new report reveals some of the specs and features of the upcoming handset.

Now that Samsung has had to abandon what was expected to be one of best smartphones of 2016 with its recalled Galaxy Note 7, the company is working overtime to ensure its upcoming Galaxy S8 series is a resounding success. This determination has also stepped up the game of rivals, like HTC who is also planning its next-generation flagship smartphone, the HTC 11, to battle for smartphone supremacy in 2017.

In mid-October we reported on a concept video of the HTC 11, which was created based on leaked official renders of the smartphone. The handset in the video followed a similar design aesthetic to that of a device that appeared in a separate video created by an HTC designer in September, which showed a smartphone named Ocean with a unique touch-sensitive frame and buttonless design.

Now, a new report provides more details on what we can expect in terms of the HTC 11's specs and features. The image above was posted to the popular Chinese social network Weibo and backs up claims that the HTC 11 will rock a 5.5-inch 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD curved edge display, similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7. This is a step up from the HTC 10, which features a 5.2-inch Quad HD screen.

HTC 11 Camera System

The source claims the HTC 11 will boast a 12-megapixel rear camera, likely with OIS (optical image stabilization) and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies.

Previous reports have suggested HTC will use a next-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor and 6 GB of RAM. The handset is expected to ship with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and an updated version of HTC Sense. It's believed the HTC 11 will feature a buttonless and waterproof aluminum design and enhanced BoomSound stereo speakers.

HTC 11 Launch

HTC launched its current flagship HTC 10 in May 2016 but it's possible it will want to release the HTC 11 around the same time Samsung launches the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, which is expected to take place at Mobile World Congress 2017, which kicks off on Feb. 27, 2017.
