The next guest to appear on the wildly popular "Carpool Karaoke" segment of James Corden's The Late Late Show is none other than the Queen of Pop, Madonna. The singer posted a selfie of herself and host Corden taken as the two filmed an upcoming ride around Manhattan in which they sang some of her biggest hits.

"Carpool Karaoke" Is A Huge Viral Hit

James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" segment, featured periodically on his CBS late night talk show The Late Late Show with James Corden, has taken on a life of its own. The segment has become one of the most viewed viral video hits on the entire web, with the 25 or so rides already released having amassed well over 1 billion YouTube views. "Carpool Karaoke" is so popular, in fact, that it was sold by Corden and his co-producers as a stand-alone weekly series set to premiere on Apple Music with a different host that has yet to be announced.

The most popular episodes of "Carpool Karaoke" so far have been those featuring Adele and Justin Bieber, but now it will be the Queen of Pop, Madonna's turn to see how many eyeballs she can capture once the segment airs on live TV and is then summarily posted on The Late Late Show's YouTube channel.

Madonna vs. Gaga

It seems fitting that the most recent guests riding shot gun with Corden have been two of the younger generation of female pop artists that have been touted as Madonna's potential successors, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. There has been no love lost between Gaga and Madonna, who famously called Gaga's music "reductive" a few years back.

Gaga, who was the last artist to appear on "Carpool Karaoke," recently took some digs when compared to Madonna in an interview to promote her just released Joanne album.

"Madonna and I are very different. I wouldn't make that comparison at all. I don't mean to disrespect Madonna...she's a nice lady, and she's had a fantastic, huge career", Gaga said. "She's the biggest pop star of all time...But I play a lot of instruments. I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I'm a producer. I'm a writer. What I do is different."

New York State Of Mind

Surely Madonna, who does in fact count writing and producing among her talents, takes some joy in following Gaga's segment with her own, and she took to her Instagram to announce it, posting a selfie with Corden entitled "Riding around Manhattan with this Hunk of Burning Love."

While Corden usually films "Carpool Karaoke" in Los Angeles, where his show tapes, it looks like he made the trip to New York in order to snag the pop star's appearance, which is most likely intended to promote her Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour concert film, which premieres on Showtime on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Though no air date has been announced for Madonna's "Carpool Karaoke" appearance, it should be sometime shortly before that date.
