Albertsons, H-E-B and Safeway are recalling some of their bakery products on potential Salmonella contamination in the powdered milk used in the food products.

Safeway and Albertsons are recalling the products due to the voluntary recall issued by Dawn Food Products that supplied the vanilla cream custard mix to these companies. Salmonella contamination is suspected in the High Heat Nonfat Dry powdered milk supplied to Dawn by the Valley Milk Products, which initially issued the voluntarily recall of powdered milk.

Product Recalled By Safeway And Albertsons

The recall applies only to Safeway and Albertsons stores in Northern Idaho, Washington and Oregon. The products included in the recall are Boston cream cakes, eclairs, fruit tart and flans, cream pies 9″, parfait cups, whipped cream cakes-one layer, whipped cream cakes- two layers, square cakes, special cakes, special orders, diner cakes and cakes 10″, noted in a press release.

The recalled products carry the Sell by Date Dec. 20, 2016 and are sold on or before Dec. 15, 2016. The retailers also noted that no cases related to Salmonella infection in connection with any of the mentioned products were reported by far.

H-E-B Recalls Nine Products

Meanwhile, H-E-B based in San Antonio announced a recall on Dec. 16 on certain bakery products that were made with one of the Dawn's products that contained Valley's powdered milk. The recall applies to about nine products sold in H‑E‑B and Mi Tienda in‑store bakeries in Mexico and Texas. There are about 340 H-E-B stores functioning in the region.

The list of recalled products include Boston with fresh fruit, fresh strawberry Boston-frz, Boston Sundae cake, Boston sundae cake chocolate, hldy choc fudge Boston spider, fresh strawberry Boston cake, *Boston choc/fudge iced 3634, scr made 8 in Boston w/fr stbr and Boston sundae cake-freezer.

"Customers with any questions or concerns may contact H‑E‑B Customer Service at 1‑855‑432‑4438, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Standard Time," noted in a press release.

Valley Milk Products Recall Tons Of Powdered Milk

Several recalls have been made recently by a number of companies due to potential Salmonella contamination in Valley's powdered milk. Valley has recalled about 3.1 million pounds of powdered milk sold to various companies between Dec. 5, 2015 and July 10, 2016.

Meanwhile, on Dec. 1, armed U.S. Marshals with permission from FDA raided Valley's factory in Strasburg, VA and seized about 4 million pounds of powdered milk and buttermilk.
