Apple is reportedly planning to release three iPhone models in 2017, iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and the high-end iPhone 8. We have a pretty good idea on what the 7s series will look like and an artist has created renders of what Apple may have in store for the iPhone 8.

Original iPhone Was The Future Of Smartphone Design

In the months leading up to Steve Job's unveiling of the original iPhone in January 2007, the company managed to keep the design of the device under wraps until it was ready to meet the world in one of Job's legendary keynotes. At the time, smartphones looked very different from the handset Jobs demonstrated, which featured a large (at the time) 3.5-inch multitouch display and the premium metal design Apple is known for.

By the time Jobs unveiled the iPhone 3G in 2008, the smartphone had traded in its metal body for a plastic polycarbonate shell, and it would be succeeded by the first iPhone to share the same design as that of its predecessor and begin Apple's "S" moniker cycle.

iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Complete Redesign

Apple's most dramatic change to its iPhone lineup came to fruition with the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The smartphones looked very different from the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, with larger displays and rounded aluminum shell.

Many iPhone fans were hoping that Apple would introduce a completely redesigned iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but were let down, as the handsets feature a nearly identical design to 2014's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

It now appears, Apple will give its fans what they have been asking for, a completely redesigned iPhone with exciting new features, although, it also appears that the company will also release "S" moniker iPhone 7s and 7s Plus variants.

These handsets will likely share the same exact design as the 7 series, but an artist has created a render for what the iPhone 8 and its rumored bezel-free OLED display with virtual Home button and Touch ID embedded directly into the display could look like.

iPhone 8 Dramatically Updated And High End Design On The Way

iDropNews has created several images of a gorgeous iPhone 8, imagined with an edge-to-edge OLED display that takes up the entire front of the smartphone.

Removing the top and bottom bezels adds considerably more real estate to the handset without making its body larger in the process. The removal of the Home button and Touch ID, which is embedded into the display, will also allow more icons to be viewed on Home screens, and the screen appears to curve in all the right places and seamlessly melt into the case.
