Crytek is in a tough spot due to its financial woes. However, the company is looking to VR and other options to keep the cash flowing. That's why Crytek created Robinson: The Journey, a PlayStation 4-exclusive VR game that is no longer an exclusive.

As it stands right now, Robinson: The Journey, will make its way to the PC platform with support for the Oculus Rift. We expect this game to look wonderful on PC, especially since a boost in graphical fidelity was delivered when the title was ported to the PlayStation 4 Pro.

"Leveraging the immersive power of VR, Robinson: The Journey invites players to step into the shoes of Robin — a boy left stranded on an extrasolar planet in the aftermath of a doomed space voyage. Accompanied by AI unit HIGS and baby T-Rex Laika, Robin must use his wits to survive in a world full of adventure, secrets, and breathtaking dinosaurs," according to Crytek statement (PDF).

By now we should all know that when it comes down to great graphics, this is one area Crytek does not fail. All its video games tend to have some of the best graphics. Crysis 3 is still being used to test the latest GPUs, and that's a game released back in 2013, so players should have an idea of the type of graphical powerhouse it is.

The game itself, Robinson: The Journey, doesn't seem to be all that impressive, according to several reviews. IGN's Brian Albert gave it a 5.5 out of 10 on the PlayStation 4. Albert believes the world is beautiful in this game, which is not surprising because this is a title from Crytek.

Unfortunately, like Ryse: Son of Rome, the gameplay is lacking, which keeps it from being more than an exhibit for pretty dinosaurs. Furthermore, this game will give the player motion sickness, well, at least when using PSVR. Since the Oculus Rift is a much better technology, we expect the experience to be better than it is now.

If you love dinosaur games in VR, then Ark: Survival Evolved upcoming Ark Park add-on might be up your alley. This title is designed for VR and is all about allowing players to view all the over 100 dinosaurs in a Jurassic Park setting. This is a multiplayer experience, but don't expect to perform any form of violence here.

Virtual reality games are slowly taking off, but we have yet to come across the great one. Still early days, so we'll keep on patiently waiting.
