The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 are two of the most eagerly awaited smartphones of the year and the tech world has been buzzing with anticipation. These top notch Android phones are fighting it out for market supremacy.

Although the Galaxy S8 has not been officially announced, the circulating rumors have already given us an idea of what the phone will look like.

LG has just announced its flagship the LG G6 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in Barcelona and most of the earlier speculations about the phone turned out to be true.

Here is a low down of the rumored specs of the Galaxy S8 and the official specs of the LG G6 to help you decide between the two heavyweights of the smartphone industry.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to come with a 5.2-inch screen. It may sport curved edge Super AMOLED display, with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and 4K resolution.

The LG G6 on the other hand, has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD "FullVision" screen, with a QHD+1440 x 2880 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The bigger screen of the LG G6 may be enticing for some while Samsung takes a slight edge when it comes to screen resolution.

Processor & RAM

The Galaxy S8 is rumored to run on a powerful Snapdragon 835 octa-core CPU along with an Adreno 540 (U.S. version) or a Samsung Exynos 8895 octa-core processor along with an ARM Mali-G71 GPU (For all other regions).

The LG G6 has a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 821 CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU.

The Galaxy S8 may be equipped with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The LG G6, however, offers only 4GB RAM.

The latest processor expected to be in Samsung's device may encourage consumers to go for the Galaxy S8 instead of the LG G6.

Storage

The Galaxy S8 will likely come with 64GB and 128GB internal storage variants with a microSD card slot.

The LG G6 has two variants as well, namely, the 32GB and 64GB. Similar to Galaxy S8, it also supports microSD storage expansion of up to 256GB.

Camera

The Galaxy S8 may have a primary camera of 12MP with a f/1.7 aperture and a secondary camera of 8MP with autofocus.

The LG G6 comes equipped with dual 13MP primary camera lenses with an f/1.8 aperture. The secondary shooter is a 5MP sensor supporting 1080p video recording.

The dual primary camera ensures that the LG flagship phone provides great picture quality and may be the choice for photography enthusiasts.

Battery

The Galaxy S8 will likely come with a durable 3,000 mAh to 3,250 mAh battery. The LG G6 has a 3,300 mAh Quick Charge 3.0 battery.

Operating System

Samsung fans and tech enthusiasts all over the world can expect the Galaxy S8 to come pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. On the other hand, LG G6 already comes pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.

Additional Features

The Galaxy S8 may come packed with a fingerprint scanner, a type-C USB port, and 4G LTE connectivity, along with the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.

The LG G6 matches each rumored feature of its opponent and leaves no stone unturned to give the Galaxy S8 a tough fight.

According to rumors, Samsung is all set to launch its new virtual assistant, Bixby, in the Galaxy S8. The LG G6, on the other hand, is the first non-Google phone to house the Google Assistant which has till date only been available in the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL.

While the Galaxy S8 is touted to be launched at a price of approximately $1,000, the LG G6 is scheduled for release at a price of $796.85. While both the phones are not exactly cheap, when it comes to affordable pricing, LG sweeps away the game.
