The Diablo III Necromancer beta test is about to kick off, or in Blizzard's words, it's "coming soon."

While the news is arguably not as big as an announcement about Diablo IV, a new character joining the roster still deserves a lot of attention.

Diablo III Necromancer Beta Test: How To Sign Up

For the record, participants will get to try the Necromancer in the PTR or Public Test Realm, but aside from the new character, they'll be testing out patch 2.6.0 too.

To sign up, just head to your Beta Profile Settings in Account Management and under Games & Codes. There, all you have to do is tick the checkbox for Diablo in the "Beta Tests I'm Interested In" section and hit the Update Preferences button.

That's pretty much it. However, you can only join if you have an active Diablo III license linked to your account that's not banned or suspended.

According to Blizzard, the factors involved in the selection process include your computer's specifications and in-game activity, as well as an "element of luck."

To be clear, this isn't a sure deal, but if you get selected to participate, you should receive an email. From there, you have to create a PTR account. To do this, go to your Account Management settings, hit the Diablo III option, scroll down, and select Create a PTR Account.

As for the launch of the Necromancer beta test, there's no exact date yet, but it shouldn't be long until it gets off the ground.

"Invitations to our closed beta test will soon be going out worldwide. If you are invited, we'd love to hear all about your adventures on the forums, watch your live streams, and see screenshots and videos of your experiences as you wield the dark powers of the Necromancer," Blizzard says.

This goes without saying, but expect to run into at least a bug or two at some point.

Before The Necromancer Beta Test: Recap

Unveiled back in November during BlizzCon 2016, the Necromancer will have some recognizable skills, including but not limited to Corpse Explosion, Bone Spear, and Summon Skeletons, of course. More than those, the new abilities Siphon Blood and Blood Rush are in tow.

Beyond the beta, players will have to purchase the Rise of the Necromancer pack before the character becomes available, which is tentatively set for a release in the second half of 2017.

Wrapping Up

Of course, many players who've gone through Diablo II are already familiar with the Necromancer skills since the class was a staple in the previous iteration, after all.

However, some would argue that it's going to be almost the same as the Witch Doctor, but despite the similarities and familiar qualities, it's potentially going to be a whole different character — from the Diablo II version and the Witch Doctor.
