Telltale Games surprised fans everywhere with the announcement that they would be partnering together with Borderlands creator Gearbox Software to craft a Borderlands title in their signature "point-and-click" adventure style. After all, what is a Borderlands game without guns and shooting galore?

It has to be funny and twisted, obviously, and thankfully it looks like this latest title, Tales from the Borderlands, has that in spades. See for yourself in the announcement trailer.

The first episode of the five episode game is available now for PC via Steam and will be on Mac later this week. Players can also download the game for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting tomorrow. Xbox 360 players will have to wait until Dec. 3, as will European PlayStation owners. The game will also be coming to mobile devices by the end of the year.

Tales from the Borderlands is set after the events of Borderlands 2. Players will take control of two very different characters -- Rhys, a Hyperion corporate man, and Fiona, a con artist looking for the next big score. Both are looking to score a pile of cash they believe to be rightfully theirs, and will no doubt get in plenty of trouble along the way.

"Telltale has proven themselves to be in a class of their own as master story tellers in interactive entertainment - and they keep getting better and better," Gearbox president Randy Pitchford says in a press release. "The collaboration on Tales from the Borderlands has been a tremendous joy and seeing what I believe is the best first episode they've ever created from their effort and talent is very exciting for me as a fan and as a partner."

Telltale is definitely having a busy year. Just last week the developer unveiled the first trailer for its six episode Game of Thrones game. The first episode of the game is scheduled to release before the end of the year and will take place during season four of HBO's television show.
