The OnePlus 5 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of 2017, and while the company is trickling out the nitty-gritty details, plenty of rumors and leaks are already making rounds online.

Just to be clear, there's no such thing as the OnePlus 4, and that's because it's an unlucky number in China, the home country of the manufacturer.

OnePlus 5 Release Date And Other Confirmed Details

OnePlus 5 will be revealed this June: On Twitter, OnePlus has finally made it official that the upcoming flagship killer will be unveiled on June 20, which was previously believed to be June 15.

Interestingly enough, that confirms the rumored "Focus on what matters" tagline.

OnePlus 5 won't lag behind the competition in terms of CPU performance: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 will power the OnePlus 5, and that's no rumor or anything at all, as it's already been confirmed back in May.

Smartphone photography is one of the One Plus 5's many selling points: OnePlus is teaming up with none other than the folks at DxO, promising to "enhance your photography experience." On top of that, it's equipping the OnePlus 3 and 3T successor with not one but two cameras.

OnePlus 5 to be the slimmest flagship yet: OnePlus CEO Pete Lau already made it clear that the OnePlus 5 is going to be the thinnest flagship, but the thing is, he didn't say whether it's slimmer than the rest of the competition or simply among the OnePlus devices.

OnePlus 5 will come in at least four color options: Back in May, OnePlus tweeted four color options. The selection includes black, red, gold, and a gradient called "unicorn."

OnePlus 5 Rumors And Leaks

A lot of signs point to dual cameras: Most of the rumors and leaks so far mention a dual-camera setup. From sketches and renders to retail packaging, they all suggest a double shooter. Case in point, one of the latest leaks from Android Police shows the OnePlus 5 with horizontal dual cameras (pictured above), not vertical as first expected.

One of the dual cameras' sensors could be in monochrome: Recently leaked camera samples of the OnePlus 5 indicate that the dual-camera setup will have one sensor that shoots in monochrome, not to mention it also corroborates the two-camera deal.

Core specs are still up in the air, but rumors teeter-totter between high-end ranges: To no one's surprise, the OnePlus 5's specs aren't set in stone just yet, except for the Snapdragon 835. For what it's worth, the word in town is that it'll have a 5.5-inch display with a QHD resolution (1,440 x 2,560), 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel dual-camera configuration, an 8-megapixel front snapper, 4G LTE connectivity, a 3,600 mAh or 4,000 mAh battery, and a fingerprint scanner.

OnePlus 5 may feature the latest Bluetooth: Since it has Snapdragon 835 under the hood, it could support Bluetooth 5, which is evidenced by Qualcomm's specification sheet for the chip. However, OnePlus hasn't confirmed this.

It might go the way of the iPhone 7 when it comes to the 3.5 mm jack: Not much to hash out here, but cofounder Carl Pei tweeted a joke regarding the audio jack.

That's not much to go by, but it could mean two things: the headphone port is now on top or it's been scrapped. The latter isn't unlikely too since the OnePlus 5 will be the slimmest of something, after all.

Price could be budget-friendly: OnePlus is known to push out smartphones with top-of-the-line components at low prices, and it might just continue in that direction with the OnePlus 5. Particularly, it could be set at $450, if some leaked documents turn out to be true.

Long Story Short

The OnePlus 5 is shaping up to be one heck of a smartphone — ahem, flagship killer. That's mostly based on rumors and leaks, though.
