Typically, when a game developer says that it'll be rewarding its top players, there's nothing to really get excited about. Usually, the reward is a congratulatory note or acknowledgement on some social media account: for all of the time and effort that the players put into becoming one of the best, the payoff just isn't worth it.

That doesn't appear to be the case with Sledgehammer Games' rewards for the top Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare players: the top 100 players from the first season of Ranked Play will receive an exclusive suit of armor for the game's multiplayer. On the surface, it might not seem like much, but once you see the armor, it's easy to understand why people will care:

Let's be honest: the armor is gorgeous. Even if you've sworn off Call of Duty, that suit is pretty great - it almost looks more like something out of Dragon Age than Advanced Warfare. It's almost a shame that the Grand Master Character Gear is only going to the best of the best; at least seeing the armor in-game will be a great excuse for when your K-D ratio takes a nosedive.

Advanced Warfare's Ranked Play is a bit different than the standard Team Deathmatch that most fans are familiar with: this is for the ultra-hardcore fans, and in the past, the mode has been used as a way to determine the game's best e-Sports teams. The Ranked Play Pre-Season began back on Nov. 4, while Season 1 proper is set to begin in December.

So get to practicing - it won't be long before the Grand Master armor set is up for grabs.
