Some Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus owners are reporting that fast charging is not working for them anymore.
It's believed that the October update is the culprit behind the issue, as complaints turned up only in November.
Galaxy S8 Issues: Fast Charging Not Working
Over at Twitter and the Samsung forums, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus users complained that their devices no longer supported fast charging.
"I just updated my phone 4 days ago and it stopped fast charging and taking 5+ hours to charge. Tried using a different charger with an adapter and still not working," a user wrote.
"Recently my charger hasn't been fast charging so when I charge my phone the battery would still be draining even when it's charging without me on the phone. Or it would stay on the same charge overnight. I actually factory reset my phone and the fast charging started working again, but once all my back up data upload back on my phone it stopped fast charging," another user said.
@SamsungSupport GM, My fast charger for my galaxy S8 just stopped working. I now say 5 hours to charge. I went into settings to see it fast charger was still on & it is. Can you help please? Thank you!

@SamsungHelpUK @SamsungUK Firmware update has screwed up my fast charging feature on S8+; tested charging block on S7 Edge and all is fine! Good ol' Samsung and there software updates again. Bunch of idiots who accept no responsibility! — ShaVerZ™ (@_ShaVerZ_) November 25, 2017
Everybody's problem is more or less the same, where they noticed that the feature stopped working after downloading and installing the update in question, despite using the same chargers that didn't have an issue before.
To make matters worse, a few users even reported that the smartphone won't charge anymore when it ran out of juice, while others have said that only wireless charging works but the battery still gets drained way too fast.
That's not even the end of it. According to SamMobile, one of its readers reported that wireless charging on their device has also been affected.
In short, the October update really messed things up for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus owners, and it's been difficult to pinpoint the root of the problem so far since the complaints indicate various issues, not to mention that it's making the rounds online only recently.
From the look of things, the fast charging issue with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus hasn't hit that many users.
Reports are rolling in, but they're few and far between compared with past problems such as the Galaxy Note 7 debacle and the whole thing with the Oculus app draining batteries and overheating Samsung phones. At any rate, that doesn't mean this is any less important, though.
Now the upcoming November update is expected to fix the issue, but it's unclear whether it really will or not since the South Korean brand has yet to make an official announcement acknowledging it.
