Blizzard revealed that the fans of the Overwatch League teams will be able to buy the team skins, but not in the same manner as how all other Overwatch skins are purchased.

Blizzard released the announcement on Overwatch League team skins just before the eSports league's preseason, which is set to start on Dec. 6.

Overwatch League Team Skins: How To Buy

There are 12 registered teams in the Overwatch League, and each of them will have unique skins in their colors. Blizzard, through a video by league commissioner Nate Nanzer, finally confirmed that fans who are looking to also dress up their heroes with Overmatch League team skins will be able to do so next year.

"Just like with traditional sports jerseys, purchasing Overwatch League skins will provide monetary support for teams in the league, and they're also a great way to show off your team pride in the game," said Nanzer in the video.

The catch, however, is that players will not be able to purchase the Overwatch League team skins the same way that they buy all other Overwatch skins. According to Nanzer, while all 12 Overwatch League team skins will be available for all the heroes of the game, players will need to spend a new in-game currency named Overwatch League tokens.

The Overwatch League tokens will be used for all the in-game items related to the league and could not be used to buy loot boxes. Players who log on to the game in the first month of the Overwatch League's launch will receive enough tokens to buy one team skin.

It remains unclear, however, how players will be able to acquire more Overwatch League tokens, such as whether they can be earned while playing matches. There is also the possibility that players will be able to convert credits into tokens.

Overwatch League Launch Coming Soon

The Overwatch League preseason will start on Dec. 6, in preparation for the highly anticipated launch on Jan. 10, 2018.

There are 12 Overwatch League teams based in several cities around the world, with each one looking to be crowned as the inaugural Overwatch League champions and take home a grand prize of $1 million.

The Dallas Fuel, Los Angeles Gladiators, Los Angeles Valiant, San Francisco Shock, Seoul Dynasty, the Shanghai Dragons make up the Pacific Division, while the Boston Uprising, Florida Mayhem, Houston Outlaws, London Spitfire, New York Excelsior, and Philadelphia Fusion form the Atlantic Division.
