Kids at the Northside for Child Development in Harlem were treated with a visit by real life princess, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.  Kate fropped by the Northside on Dec. 8 but the children were actually expecting royalty of a different sort when they were told that royalty was coming over -- they thought they would be honored with the presence of Queen Elsa of Arendell from the movie Frozen!

But Kate took it all in stride and with amusement as the children greeted her enthusiastically by shouting, "Princess!"  Meanwhile, her hubby, Prince William, was in talks for the first time ever with President Obama in the Oval Office.

Kate's visit to Northside was her first solo engagement in New York.  Although she was not the platinum blonde queen with icy powers in a sparkling blue dress that the children were hoping for, they were nevertheless excited about meeting the true to life Princess of the United Kingdom.

According to the center's director of early childhood development, Rose Ann Harris, the children of Harlem's Northside are all learning impared and have developmental disabilities and Kate's visit was a joy for them all.

"The visit meant everything to the children, they were thrilled and it acknowledges all the hard work of the staff," Harris said.

While Kate was busy helping kids paste stars on their picture frame decorating projects and wrapping gifts with Harlem's grandmothers to be given to NYC's poorest children, Prince William was in Washington on an official visit with President Obama.

The two spoke of the Prince's passion for eradicating the illegal wildlife trade and for conservation.  A topic that he also taked about in his speech at the World bank.

After their respective visits, the Royal Couple reunited at a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers where music royalty was also in attendance -- Queen Bey (Beyonce) and Jay-Z.
