Developer Jam City has released a first look at its Harry Potter mobile game. Aside from the teaser trailer, new game details have arrived for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

The forthcoming iOS and Android title is set in the Harry Potter universe and is not to be confused with Niantic’s, who created Pokémon GO, iOS game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

Jam City has revealed that Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first mobile game that puts players in the driver seat as a Hogwarts student.

For the uninitiated, Jam City has developed quite a few mobile games. The company is responsible for games that take on TV shows like Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, Family Guy: Another Freakin' Mobile Game, and Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff. They also produced games like Snoopy Pop, Marvel's Avengers Academy, and more.

What Features Will Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Have?

Players will be able to create their very own Hogwarts student, attend different classes, learn new magic spells and skills, interact with other students and form friendships or even rivals, and much more. Gamers who complete classes and studies at the magical school will open up new areas, spells, and other magical abilities.

Unfortunately, gamers will not be playing with main characters Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger, or Ron Weasley. The new Harry Potter title will be set earlier in time when Nymphadora Tonks and Bill Weasley were students. This means gamers will see characters like a young Hagrid, Professor Snape, Professor McGonagall, and perhaps a younger Voldermort.

There is a customization system that lets gamers change their appearance, so users can make their characters look just like them. Players will also get to choose their own pet as well.

When Will Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Arrive?

Unfortunately, the developer does not have an exact release date for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, but there is a launch window set for spring 2018. Meanwhile, Jam City revealed that there will be a Celebration of Harry Potter event at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida on Jan. 26.

Again, Jam City's Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery title will be available for both iOS and Android players.

Niantic’s Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has yet to be given a specific release date and the window is quite large, only announcing the game will arrive sometime in 2018.

Niantic revealed that players will be able to learn spells and help explore their real world and neighborhoods where they’ll discover and battle magical beasts in the Harry Potter universe.
