Hulu is giving a special treat to Android users in the United States. For a special holiday offering, the company is now allowing Hulu Plus account holders to stream television shows on their devices. The best part of the offer is that the service is absolutely free.

The announcement was made in the official Google+ page of Android. It said that Hulu and Google has teamed up to offer exclusively to Android users free Hulu streaming of well-loved television shows.

"#Android U.S. exclusive: watch the current season of your favorite TV shows for free on the +Hulu app on +Google Play," said the post.

Some of the TV titles, which had been confirmed to be included in the offer are South Park, Arrow, Once Upon a Time, The Tonight Show, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Hulu is a US-based online company and is an ad-supported online video service. Through its free Hulu.com and Hulu Plus subscription services, users can enjoy a selection of TV shows, clips, movies and more. At a monthly subscription rate of $7.99, Hulu Plus subscribers are given access to episodes CW, NBC, Fox, and ABC on the day following their airing. All these programs are compatible with Internet-connected TVs, set-top boxes, game consoles, and smartphones.

Hulu claims that the Hulu Plus service now has millions of viewers on over 400 million Internet-connected devices in the U.S.

On Jan. 17, 2011, Hulu has streamed The Morning After, its own in-house web series produced in conjunction with HD Films. Producing the show is something that the company has done for the very first time as it had always been a content distributor in the past.

In February 2012, Hulu aired Battleground, its first original script-based program. The program is described as a political drama played in documentary style.

Apart from Battleground, other original programs that Hulu has produced include Day in the Life, Up to Speed, Don't Quit Your Daydream, Flow, The Awesomes, and We Got Next.

It's not clear on how long the company is offering the free promo or if there's a chance that subscribers outside the U.S. can also be given access to the service.

Since it is more like a holiday gimmick, there's a clamor that the service would at least be available through the end of December.
