After months in beta, Marvel Strike Force is officially released on mobile. The game by FoxNext brings RPG, strategy, and combat games into one.

The campaign mode features a main story involving the main villain Ultimus. Heroes and villains fight side by side to eliminate what may be the biggest threat yet.

"An assault on Earth has begun and Super Heroes and Super Villains are working together to defend it! Lead the charge by assembling your ultimate squad, including Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Loki, Elektra, Captain America and Iron Man, as you enter strategic combat against an all-new enemy threat," the description reads.

Ultimus comes from the Kree Empire, which produced Ronan the Accuser and Korath the Pursuer from Guardians of the Galaxy. Both don't compare to the powerful Ultimus, though. According to Jason Bender, creative director, the villain has the same source of power as Thanos, which fans will see on the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War cast.

Marvel Strike Force Gameplay

Aside from the names mentioned, there are over 70 more characters, including both Marvel heroes and villains. The trailer shows some other familiar faces. FoxNext says that the roster will include characters beyond the Marvel movies, TV shows, and comics.

Players can collect both Super Heroes and Super Villains to form a squad, which can get new outfits and level up to make them stronger. They can then have the squad fight other squads.

Players can engage in 5v5 turn-based battles, where they can put forward their most powerful characters and unleash combo moves to take down the enemies. Some moves will only be possible with certain hero and/or villain pairings.

Future Of 'Marvel Strike Force'

If 70 characters are not enough, fans can look forward to more character to be added to the Marvel game. The team is working to bring new faces and even new missions, but details and release time frames have not been discussed yet.

FoxNext, a subsidiary of 21st Century Fox, is a new gaming company with access to the franchises owned by Fox Subsidiary Group and Twentieth Century Fox Film. Marvel Strike Force is its first title, with VR experiences for Alien and Planet of the Apes games in the works.

Marvel Strike Force is available for free on Android and iOS. The game implements the "energy" system and other mechanics that players can bypass with in-app purchases. There are also Daily Objectives that will reward its players upon completion, such as the chance to unlock Wolverine from the X-Men franchise.
