Two new legendary Gen 3 Pokémon are now available in Pokémon GO: the twins Latios and Latias, each appearing in different regions.

Niantic Labs keeps trying to maintain momentum for Pokémon GO although the initial hype has died down long ago. To this extent, it keeps adding various events, perks, and new Pokémon to boost interest and keep users engaged.

Lately, Lugia has been the center of attention, but it's about to leave the game soon enough. The Eon Pokémon Latios and Latias from the Hoenn region, however, are ready to take its place.

'Pokémon GO' Gets New Gen 3 Legendary Pokémon

Latios and Latias reached Pokémon GO on April 2 and will be available in different regions. Both legendary critters hit the game at the same time, but they're not available in the same regions simultaneously.

Latios is currently available in Africa, South America, and North America, while Latias is roaming Europe and Asia. The two will be available in these regions until May 8, after which they will switch places until June 5.

It allows players in different regions worldwide to catch both Gen 3 legendary Pokémon without having to travel the globe. The twins are Psychic- and Dragon-type Pokémon and it marks the very first time that they're available for Pokémon GO Raid Battles.

"Drawn to compassionate spirits, the Eon Pokémon Latias and Latios are known for being highly intelligent, and are able to communicate telepathically with humans," the Pokemon GO Team highlights on the official blog.

"They are also stealthy and extremely fast in flight-with Latias able to use its down to refract light to make itself invisible and Latios able to overtake jet planes. Make sure you encounter these special and elusive Pokémon while they roam during this limited time!"

'Pokémon GO' Latios And Latias

As previously mentioned, the twins Latios and Latias are only available in Raid Battles, just like most Legendaries. It means that trainers have to join forces with others to battle the Pokémon, and they'll only be able to catch them once they defeat them.

Latios and Latias are highly susceptible to Fairy and Dark Pokémon, and the Pokemon GO Team says that Mawile and Tyranitar work particularly well against Psychic and Dragon Pokémon. Both Mawile and Tyranitar will start being available in Raid Battles soon enough, allowing players to better handle Latios and Latias.

In other news, Niantic is also holding a new Pokémon GO Community Day, the fourth one so far, later this month on April 15. The event will bring Mareep with a yet-undisclosed exclusive move, as well as other perks to keep the trainers engaged.
