Blizzard finally sets a release date for World of Warcraft newest expansion Battle for Azeroth, which pits the Alliance against the Horde.

The Battle for Azeroth is World of Warcraft's seventh expansion since its release in 2004. Although it has been more than a decade after the game was launched, it is likely that it won't be its last expansion.

World Of Warcraft Newest Expansion Features

The Battle for Azeroth will bring a host of new features and gameplay mechanics. Starting Aug. 14, players can attempt to conquer islands in the form of mini-dungeons. They can battle it out against other players in a PvP setting or against AIs in a PvE setting.

The new World of Warcraft expansion will let players choose their allegiance. As a champion of the Horde, they will explore the kingdom of Zandalar to attempt bringing the naval forces of the trolls to the cause. As a defender of the Alliance, they will travel to the kingdom of Kul Tiras to recruit its seafaring inhabitants.

According to Mike Morhaime, co-founder, and CEO of Blizzard Entertainment, the stakes for both factions are high. Whichever the player chooses, it will have an enormous impact on the whole World of Warcraft experience, which is unlike any other previous expansion.

"Whether they're journeying to unexplored lands to recruit allies or fighting to secure war resources, players will redefine what it truly means to be 'For the Horde' or 'For the Alliance' when the expansion arrives this August," said Morhaime.

The Battle for Azeroth will also bring 10 new levels, the 20-player cooperative mode Warfront, and Azerite that imbues with the Heart of Azeroth.
