With a little help from the Internet, anything could be possible, especially if becoming a millionaire is on your wish list. In a new experiment, social media users on the site Reddit will randomly make someone a millionaire by crowdfunding $1 from a million users.

The idea was first posted on November 19th by Reddit user moizmie in a r/ShowerThoughts thread. The thread already has over 119,000 Reddit users who entered the contest to become the first ever lucky Reddit millionaire.

To enter into the contest, Redditers only have to post a message on the forum "Reddit, Let's Make A Millionaire!" located in the subreddit r/MillionaireMakers.  But of course there are some rules. There can only be one entry message per Reddit account. And your account must be older than the contest thread in order to avoid cheating users who want to increase their chances of winning by making more accounts.

Reddit user Emphursis from South London previously won money in November in a previous contest. "Welp, fingers crossed," the user wrote before winning, although the lump sum only came out to $968.13.

And how will he be spending the money? "'I'll definitely be making some donations to charity, to help give children in deprived areas a brighter Christmas," Emphursis said.

Since Emphursis' slightly big win, the group plans to continue the contest regularly on the popular site. And apparently users are hoping they can cash in big for the holidays. The page was one of five subreddits that was trending on Tuesday.

To win this month's "million" dollars, you must have entered your message before 1:05 p.m. ET on December 23th when the contest closed. The lucky crowdsourced millionaire will be selected by method that includes a bot attaching a number to a use, which is then uploaded to Dropbox. The numbers are then sent to Bitcoin Blockchain where it creates a new number. The number equal to the generated number is the lucky winner.

As you can imagine, this process may take some time. However, one lucky Reddit user could become a millionaire, receiving their money through PayPal or Bitcoin.

If you are the lucky winner, this may be the best holiday gift yet. Thanks in advance, Internet!
