Paladins on Nintendo Switch has been confirmed, after some leaks suggested that the Overwatch-like hero shooter will be coming to the hybrid console.

Paladins is just one of several new Nintendo Switch games that were rumored to be featured at the upcoming E3 2018. Fortnite, the leader in the Battle Royale genre, is also apparently confirmed.

Paladins For Nintendo Switch Leaked, Then Confirmed

A recently leaked document revealed that Paladins, alongside other games that include Fortnite, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, will be announced for the Nintendo Switch at E3 2018.

Further evidence from the Nintendo eShop provided additional proof that Fortnite on Nintendo Switch was really happening. Additional clues that Paladins will also be coming to the hybrid console was acquired the same way.

After the leaks, Hi-Rez Studios officially confirmed the game, releasing the Paladins for Nintendo Switch announcement trailer. However, it appears that Paladins will not be simply ported to the hybrid console.

The trailer revealed that Paladins will run at 60 frames per second on the Nintendo Switch in both the docked and handheld modes, to keep the game's high standards in other platforms. In addition, Paladins for the Nintendo Switch will offer cross-play with the Xbox One, allowing players on both platforms to play against or with each other. Cross-play with PC, meanwhile, was likely not included to maintain competitive parity, as it is much easier to play shooters with a keyboard and a mouse than controllers.

Paladins on Nintendo Switch will launch through an Early Access period on June 12, the first day of E3 2018. To participate, Nintendo Switch owners will need to buy the $29.99 Founders Pack, which will provide access to all of champions of Paladins, exclusive cosmetic items, and voice packs.

For those who prefer to wait for the free-to-play version of Paladins, the full game will launch later this summer. The free-to-play Paladins will grant free access to five champions, plus four more champions on a weekly rotation. Players will be able to unlock champions and other content by collecting in-game currency or spending real-world money in microtransactions.

Overwatch On Nintendo Switch Next?

Paladins, just one of the games like Overwatch, will soon be released on the Nintendo Switch, raising questions on when the most popular hero shooter will arrive to the hybrid console.

Last year, Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan said that it would be difficult, but not impossible, to bring the multiplayer shooter to the Nintendo Switch. Now that everybody knows that Paladins can do it, will Overwatch follow?
