Mario Kart fans can now play the latest title of the popular go-kart racing franchise on the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Motorbike.

Nintendo Labo Now Compatible With 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'

A couple of month ago, Nintendo launched its line of fascinating new cardboard peripherals called Nintendo Labo, which allow players to use the Nintendo Switch and Joy-Con controllers in fascinating and inventive new ways.

On Monday, June 25, Nintendo announced that it has rolled out a new update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that brings Nintendo Labo compatibility to the Nintendo Switch title.

This will allow people who own the DIY Nintendo Labo Variety Kits to play the video game using the Toy-Con Motorbike, which is essentially a cardboard- assembled set of handlebars for the Nintendo Switch. The Variety Kit retails for $69.99 and also includes a piano, fishing rod, a house, and two RC Cars.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the first Nintendo title outside of Nintendo Labo to receive support for Toy-Cons, and Nintendo said it is planning to bring many more such titles that are compatible with Labo in the future.

Controls

Once users download the latest software update, all they need to do is select the Labo icon in the main menu to choose the Joy-Con as the controller.

Users can then use the controllers' motion controls to steer, accelerate, and enjoy the video game in a more unique way. The handlebars are for steering, twisting the right handlebar allows users to accelerate, and the other Joy-Cons buttons can be used to fire items, brake, and drift around the track.

You can also play with your friends and connect up to four Toy-Con Motorbikes simultaneously. Along with the announcement, Nintendo also released a video highlighting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's compatibility with the Nintendo Labo. Check out the video below:
