Apple's entry to the video gaming world continues with the unveiling of its new subscription service dedicated to standard and mobile gamers.

The Apple Arcade showcases more than 100 exclusive video games available for OS X and iOS devices. Gamers can choose titles and play them either on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and even their Apple TV.

The new gaming service will be available before the year ends.

Apple's Gaming Subscription Service

Fans who will sign up to Apple Arcade will be able to download various game titles found in a new tab in the App Store. Once a game is downloaded, it will be saved permanently on the Apple device's storage. This will allow gamers to play titles even when they are offline.

One of the best features of the new gaming service is that it lets users play their chosen games across their Apple devices. They can start a playthrough on their iPhone and have it continued on their iPad or Mac.

Apple said the Apple Arcade will have new game titles added to its library regularly to give subscribers more playing options. The neat thing about them is that they will be completely ad-free and will not require gamers to make any in-app purchases.

Apple Arcade's Game Library

The new Apple Arcade is expected to have a wide range of video games available once it goes live this fall. Some of the game developers announced to be part of the service include Konami, SEGA, Cartoon Network, LEGO, and ustwo games.

It will also have games from Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Finji, Snowman, Giant Squid, Mistwalker Corporation, Klei Entertainment, and many more.

Here are some of the titles that will be available on the Apple Arcade:

  • ATONE: Heart of the Elder Tree
  • Beyond a Steel Sky
  • The Bradwell Conspiracy
  • Doomsday Vault
  • Enter The Construct
  • Frogger in Toy Town
  • HitchHiker
  • Hot Lava
  • Kings of the Castle
  • Lega Arthouse, Cardpocalypse
  • LEGO Brawls
  • Lifelike
  • Monomals
  • No Way Home
  • Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm
  • Overland
  • The Pathless
  • Projection: First Light
  • Repair
  • Sonic Racing

Will Wright, the legendary creator of SimCity, is reportedly working on a new video game for the Apple Arcade.

Apple is collaborating with game creators to help develop top-notch games exclusively for the OS X and the iOS platforms.

"Apple has joined forces with some of the world's most innovative game developers to push the boundaries of what's possible," the tech company wrote on its website.

"We're working closely with these visionaries to help them realize the games of their dreams - and yours."

From Hardware To Software

Apple Arcade represents a fundamental shift in Apple's business strategy, which had been more focused on offering products such as MacBooks, iPhones, and iPads.

With Apple's hardware sales said to be starting to slow down, the company is likely looking to pick up new momentum by selling subscriptions to its online services.

The iPhone maker hopes to take advantage of its massive user base all over the world to jumpstart its foray into the video gaming industry.

More than 1 billion App Store users have already downloaded games through the digital distribution platform so far. The service also currently hosts over 300,000 different games.
