Epic's pursuit of exclusives is not coming to a halt anytime soon. Forthcoming Borderlands 3, the much-anticipated title from Gearbox and 2K games, will apparently release through the Epic Games Store and remain exclusive there for a whopping six months.

That means when the game comes out in Sept. 13, PC players will only be able to get the title from Epic and not anywhere else for half a year. From the press release:

"At launch on September 13, Borderlands 3 will be available for PC exclusively through the Epic Games store. Borderlands 3 will be available on additional PC digital storefronts in April 2020," the developers announced. Multiple editions are planned for PC, and it'll also be out for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Preorders are open now.

Borderlands 3 Epic Games Exclusive

For years, Steam has been the go-to location for all things PC gaming, but with Epic Games' many recent attempts to make strides in this space, there's a chance Valve's platform could be dethroned as the de facto gaming hub.

The Fortnite maker has made a number of moves in recent months to attract developers to sell their games on its platform. Several high-profile titles have moved exclusively to the Epic Games Store, including The Division 2 and Metro Exodus. Key to this is the fact that Epic takes only 12 percent of sales revenue, as opposed to Valve's 30 percent.

The Epic Games store also regularly puts up two games for free to attract new gamers, especially those who have grown accustomed to Steam and may not want to make the switch at this point. It's clear the company is trying to attract both those who make the games and those who play them, which means Valve has plenty of reasons to worry.

Borderlands 3: Season Pass

As for the game itself, Gearbox plans to release a season pass that includes four campaign DLC packs featuring new stories, missions, and challenges. Four versions of the game will be released: The Standard Edition, the Deluxe Edition, the Super Deluxe Edition, and the Diamond Loot Chest Collector's Edition for $59.99, $79.99, $99.99, and $249.99, respectively. The price of the Super Deluxe Edition, however, will increase from $99.99 to $119.99 starting Sept. 17.
