At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced iOS 13 and the new iPadOS 13 and their features, including the new Dark Mode, QuickPath, and many others.

Not every iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad will get the latest software updates, though, so a lot of users are likely wondering whether their devices are compatible.

iOS 13 Supported Devices

As Apple listed down on the preview page of iOS 13, the iPhone and iPod touch models that will be capable of running iOS 13 are as follows:

• iPhone XS

• iPhone XS Max

• iPhone XR

• iPhone X

• iPhone 8

• iPhone 8 Plus

• iPhone 7

• iPhone 7 Plus

• iPhone 6s

• iPhone 6s Plus

• iPhone SE

• iPod touch (7th generation)

From the look of things, the Cupertino brand has stopped supporting the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPod touch (6th generation), which has been replaced by a newer model with an A10 Fusion chip under the hood.

iPadOS 13 Supported Devices

Apple also outlined the iPad units that are compatible with iPadOS 13. Here are the models that will support the new operating system:

• 12.9-inch iPad Pro

• 11-inch iPad Pro

• 10.5-inch iPad Pro

• 9.7-inch iPad Pro

• iPad (6th generation)

• iPad (5th generation)

• iPad mini (5th generation)

• iPad mini 4

• iPad Air (3rd generation)

• iPad Air 2

To put two and two together, the company is no longer going to support the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and the original iPad moving forward.

Highlight Features

Both the iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 are bringing a system-wide dark mode and QuickPath to the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, two of which are among the best features of the new software updates. There's also Sign In with Apple, which is basically a social login button similar to Facebook's and Google's except that it's touted to be more secure. Audio sharing is also in the mix, allowing users to listen to the same song or watch the same movie with two pairs of AirPods.

The updates are expected to start rolling out sometime this fall. As for Mac users, they'll be getting macOS Catalina during the same time.
