Ford is raffling a custom 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 to help raise funds for charity for a Type 1 diabetes research organization.

The American carmaker is once again teaming up with JDRF, a nonprofit group that provides funding for Type 1 diabetes research. Both companies are hoping to sell 75,000 tickets at an upcoming fundraiser in Dearborn, Michigan in November.

"Building on the excitement around GT500 is a terrific way to help JDRF fund research and help find a cure for Type 1 diabetes" said Dave Pericak, director of enterprise product line management at Ford.

"Not only does this raffle provide an opportunity to win the most powerful production Ford ever, it also speaks to how Ford strives to make people's lives better."

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

The Ford Mustang Shelby that will be raffled off is a custom-built put together in partnership with folks at the Protean and Penske Vehicle Services. It is decked in Venom metallic clearcoat paint and overlaid with black racing stripes down the center of the vehicle.

The muscle car features Ford's Carbon Fiber Track Package, which includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, exposed carbon fiber wheels, Recaro leather-trimmed seats, a rear-seat delete, and a sleek GT4 wing.

Under the hood, the GT500 has been fitted with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine. This gives the car a whopping 760 of horsepower and 625 foot-pound of torque. It also has a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which allows the car to go from zero to 100 miles per hour and back to a full stop all in under 11 seconds.

With these features, the 2020 Mustang Shelby is already being touted by car enthusiasts and journalists as one of the most powerful muscle cars Ford has ever created. These are some mighty fine praise considering the car hasn't even been rolled out to car dealerships yet. Fans can expect to see the GT500 this coming fall.

How To Join The Raffle

To get a chance to win the Ford muscle car, participants will have to buy a $10 ticket. These are available at the official #JDRFFordRaffle website. The raffle will be drawn during Ford and JDRF's fundraising event at the Ford Conference and Event Center in Michigan on Nov. 14.

Contestants who would miss out on getting the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 would still be able to play for the second prize, which is all-inclusive VIP trip to the Daytona 500 race next year.
