Gamescom 2019 is kicking off the festivities in high gear with 25 games set to be featured in the two-hour Opening Night Live presentation.

The convention, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, is slated to run from Tuesday, Aug. 20 to Saturday, Aug. 24. From the first day, attendees and fans from all over the world will be treated to new looks at the hotly anticipated upcoming releases in the gaming community.

Opening Night Live is on Monday, Aug. 19 at 11:00 a.m. PT (20:00 CEST or 14:00 ET).

Gamescom 2019: First Night Festivities

Geoff Keighley, a well-known video game journalist, will be hosting the opening proceedings and he spilled a few details about the upcoming event on Twitter last Sunday, Aug. 18.

According to Keighley's tweet, the Opening Night Live show will run for about two hours with 25 games set to be presented. Among these confirmed presentations are the Borderlands 3, Gears 5, and Destiny 2: Shadowkeep.

An announcement will be made about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, while Hideo Kojima will be presenting on Death Stranding. The world premiere for new game Disintegration, which is developed by some of the creators of Halo, is set to be shown during the event.

Other program inclusions are from industry heavyweights, such as Capcom, Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and more. However, it is not clear what these companies will be presenting during opening night.

Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live will be broadcasted on Facebook, Mixer, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube.

What Else Can Fans Expect In Gamescom?

Even beyond the first night, the biggest gaming convention in Europe has plenty in store for fans. All of the biggest names in the industry will be on the floor, providing attendees a peek at the best upcoming games in their respective rosters.

Xbox will be a part of Gamescom 2019, but the company will also be hosting a free, open event off-site for fans. Aside from Gears 5, which will be part of the Opening Night Live, Xbox is expected to feature Minecraft Dungeons and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition in its booth.

Nintendo has confirmed the slate of games that will be playable in its booth, which includes The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, and the Switch version of The Witcher III: The Wild Hunt, among others.

Ubisoft, Nintendo, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Bethesda, and many more major developers are all expected at the convention as well.
