Ferrari is looking to capitalize on the record year it's been having so far with the release of two additional supercar models.

At an event for clients and fans in Maranello, Italy, on Monday, the premium sports car maker unveiled the latest additions to its fleet: the mid-rear mounted engine F8 Spider and the 812 GTS.

The two new models are part of the 15-car lineup that Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri promised to roll out from 2019 to 2022. The company hopes that the F8 Spider and the 812 GTS will help power core earnings and increase share prices for the brand moving forward.

Ferrari F8 Spider

The F8 Spider is the successor to Ferrari's long line of open-top sports cars that were first introduced back in the late 1970s. It features the Italian carmaker's award-winning turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine, which is known to produce up to 720 of horsepower. It has the same engine as its cousin, the F8 Tributo, which was unveiled earlier in the year.

Design-wise, Ferrari describes the F8 Spider as "less extreme" than the 488 Pista Spider but "sportier" compared to the 488 Spider.

In fact, the new sports car's Pista-inspired S-duct bonnet and retractable hardtop make it 10 percent more aerodynamically efficient than the 488 Spider. The F8 is also lighter than its predecessor, weighing 20 kg (about 44 lbs) less compared to 488 Spider.

Ferrari 812 GTS

Meanwhile, the 812 GTS is the first series-production V12 convertible Ferrari has released since the 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider half a century ago. It has a 6.5-litre V12 engine, which easily churns up to 800 hp and a whopping 8,500 rpm.

Ferrari bills the new GTS' acceleration as "virtually on par" to that of the 812 Superfast coupé, while the sound its engine produces is "particularly appreciable when the roof is open."

Much like the F8 Spider, the 812 GTS also has a retractable hardtop. However, its design features are considered to be more extreme compared to the F8 when it was designed to be a convertible.

The GTS also has virtually the same technological features as those seen on the Superfast. However, it is 75 kg (about 165 lbs) heavier compared to its coupé counterpart.

More Ferrari Models

The F8 Spider and the 812 GTS are part of Ferrari's new roster of cars scheduled for 2019. The carmaker is expected to unveil one more model by the end of the year to bring its total to five new vehicles.

Ferrari has already debuted the F90 Stradale earlier this year. The car is considered to be the first hybrid vehicle to be widely produced by the company.
