Apple is now offering wireless Xbox One controllers through its online store after introducing support for the accessory with the latest software update.

Apple Arcade fans can get the Microsoft gamepads via Apple.com for $59.95 apiece. The wireless controllers are meant to provide players a new gameplay dynamic when trying out their favorite titles on the streaming service.

Xbox One Controllers For The Apple Arcade

The Apple store Xbox One controller features the same sleek, streamlined design and textured grip as the standard Microsoft gamepad.

However, its Bluetooth functionality allows the accessory to connect an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV instead of an Xbox One console. It also has three times the range of previous wireless controllers and has a dedicated 3.5mm stereo jack to let players connect any compatible headset.

To use the controllers, Apple users need to have devices with at least iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or tvOS 13 installed. The following are the specific iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and iPod touch versions that currently support the use of the controller:

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPad Air (3rd generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation)
  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch
  • iPad (6th generation)
  • iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st generation)
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad Air 2
  • Apple TV 4K
  • Apple TV HD
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

Buying an Xbox One controller through Apple will get users the Microsoft wireless gamepad and two AA Alkaline batteries.

Of course, those who don't want to purchase the gamepad via Apple.com can choose to get the accessory through Amazon, Best Buy, or other local retailers. Wireless Xbox One controllers can often be bought from these sellers on more affordable deals.

Support For Sony DualShock 4 Controllers

Aside from Microsoft's Xbox One wireless controllers, Apple has also introduced support for Sony's DualShock 4 controllers along with the latest iOS 13, iPadOS, tvOS 13, and macOS Catalina update. Much like the Xbox One gamepad, the DualShock 4 controller can connect to an Apple device via Bluetooth.

However, Apple doesn't seem to have the Sony PlayStation controllers on offer through its online store, at least at the moment.

Using a PS4 controller with an iPhone offers Apple users more games to play with, courtesy of Sony's Remote Play feature. This allows owners to access compatible PS4 titles remotely via their iPhone or iPad.
