How Much Social Media Presence Is Too Much?

There's no doubt about it. Almost everyone is on social media these days, whether it be posting photos and sharing everything we've done on Facebook, giving our opinion on Twitter, or showing the world our life in pictures on Instagram.

There's one question that comes to mind, though. How much sharing and social media presence is too much? Many of us share every moment in our lives from when we go to the bakery to when we check-in at an airport.

Let's take a look at what should be controlled to make for a safer profile on social media.

Sharing Location

It can seem fun to let friends know when we're at the latest blockbuster or dining at one of the finest restaurants in town. We could be putting ourselves in a lot of danger, however. It's not difficult for someone who wants to do harm to find us.

What happens if someone has seen we have the latest iPhone and they can't afford one themselves. They can follow us and our check-ins to see where we are and find the optimum chance to steal it.

In the awful event that we have a stalker, it will also be far easier for them to find us. We may all think we're safe from them, but no one knows if someone is following them or not.

Too Many Photos

It's true; a person can share too many photos. Instagram is the biggest culprit here as we've gotten so used to trying to find the perfect picture for our profile and for everyone to see us looking our best. Identity theft can happen far too easily here.

It's not uncommon for people to steal photos from an account and create a fake profile. From this, they can use it for a lot of harmful purposes such as phishing and posing as someone they're not. The more photos a person has, the more likely they are to be used.

It's a good idea to check out Instagram bio ideas to make the information in a biography more effective than sharing thousands of photos.

Being Too Opinionative

Twitter is excellent for voicing an opinion and reading what others have to say on a matter. However, occasionally, people get too carried away and end up hurting others' feelings and in a powerful way. People have known to commit suicide because of nasty comments online.

It's ok to be open, but know where to draw the line and keep things private.

Reel It In

A vast majority of us are sharing too much information and being a little too expressive. Let's all learn to keep our private lives a little more private and think about what we're telling the world about ourselves.
