Amidst the controversies Huawei is facing, the company has been talking about its transformational possibility of 5G early this week. Guo Ping, the company's rotating chairman, talked about this possible innovation in his speech that avoided to mention anything about the issues Huawei has been involved in for quite some time now.

An article Yahoo! News posted recently quoted the company official saying, "5G +X is the new electricity." Meaning, it is going to be "key the enabler of the smart world." The '+X' Ping was referring to the other technologies that could be potentially partnered with the 5G technology like virtual reality, smart city technology, and AI.

The 5G Promise

5G is described to be wireless cellular technology's next generation, being rolled out across the globally. The latest innovation promises to provide faster wireless speeds of the Internet, higher capacity in-network, lower latency, and, most of all, more flexibility. While the most noticeable application is expected to be the faster internet for wireless devices, its reliability and power may mean usefulness with the other technologies that are not presently suited for the wireless internet.

In a separate article posted online, Ping cited the example of a junior oil engineer being given instructions by a more senior colleague who is miles apart. The communication channel of the two was a 5G-enhanced reality headset. Ping, who was previously the rotating Huawei CEO, added that while the 5G applications are still in their infancy period, he believes this new technology will result in innumerable opportunities to business owners.

5G+X Technology on Huawei

He elaborated that Huawei concentrated on two areas: the cloud and different mobile devices. He hyped a $1.5 billion Huawei program to help the software developers working with 5G and another $1 billion set aside for developers creating apps on the mobile operating systems of Huawei. Relatively, the rollout of 5G technology is taking place faster than expected. In fact, 40 carriers in more than 20 countries have already been using the said technologies since it started.

Huawei's involvement here, according to Ping, would be "a national security risk." The United Kingdom has recurrently put on hold a decision if it is allowing Huawei devices in its 5G technologies. However, the country is currently facing pressure from the United States to ban it. Despite this, Huawei has shown commitment to enable application development, which includes 5G+X. For the past three decades, the company has worked with different carriers to develop the groundwork for the Internet, so software and app developers can fully unleash their highest potential.
