Obsidian Entertainment's latest offer, The Outer Worlds, has received some pretty good reviews from both professional critics and everyday gamers around the world for its excellent storytelling, graphics, and overall gameplay.

But what appealed most to players is its open-world feature where you can visit various planets and do side quests that can enhance your gameplay experience, as well as the different endings you can get from the decisions you make.

Why Companions are Essential

According to Forbes, it seemed like everyone had a few numbers of planets that are left blank even after exploring almost every nook and cranny of the game, and this could possibly be for future DLCs.

Besides being unable to travel to every planet in the game, many have also found it hard to find the sixth member of your crew or otherwise known as Companions.

In The Outer Worlds, Companions are special characters that you can recruit to join you, and having them is perhaps the most helpful part of the game, primarily as they can offer skill enhancements, combat support, increase your storage capacity, as well as allow you to perform certain special abilities.

The Missing Crew Member

It seems finding the sixth Companion is tough. However, it turns out it is quite easy because the last member of the crew is hiding in your ship the entire time. 

SAM is a maintenance robot in the Unreliable, and you can find it on the second floor of the ship in an old storage room, which should be next to the crews' cabins.

Interact with SAM to recruit it, where it will ask you to do a little loyalty quest like other Companions in the game. After doing the quest, you'll be able to recruit SAM and help you with Companion Perks and Companion Abilities.

How to Recruit the Six Companions

IGN has also listed how to find and recruit all the other members of the crew:

• Parvati - She can be found in Edgewater during the Stranger in a Strange Land and will not require any tasks.

• Vicar Max - Vicar Max is not everybody's favorite, but he grows on you. He can also be found in Edgewater Church, behind a large desk. He will request the Illustrated Manual quest and will join you once you've completed it.

• Ellie - Ellie can enhance your medical inhaler and recover your health to 25% once you've been fatally wounded. You can find her in the Medical Bay on the Groundbreaker, where she will request the Side Contact quest.

• Felix - He can be found either directly outside of your ship, or leaning up against a huge container that you can find on your way to the Groundbreaker. Once you've completed either the Balance Due or the Passage Anywhere side quests, he will ask to join your crew.

• Nyoka - Nyoka can be found at the bar in the Yacht Club, where you will have to complete the Passion Pills quest before you can recruit her.

The Outer Worlds is available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
