Folding phones are not quite too weird 'idea' for people nowadays. Just like a laptop where you can fold once finished, a folding phone has the same objectives, and these are to provide convenience for its users and allow more things to be accomplished using the device.

Since a lot of mobile device companies aim to be on top of the latest trend, apparently, folding phones will become the next target—it is expected to be the next famous mobile design for the coming years. Few of them already released their bets for the best folding phones.

Folding Phones Over the Years

According to Forbes, the very first commercially available foldable phone did not come from famous tech companies like Apple or Samsung but from a small China-based company called Royole. The company's device is a small tablet with a 7.8-inch screen that can be folded in half—called Royole's FlexPai. Though the mainstream media did not quickly jump into the FlexPai fever, Forbes mentioned that this device is quite a "usable" phone.

After a few months, Samsung and Huawei released their designs of folding phones. For Samsung, its called "Samsung Galaxy Fold." For Huawei, its called "Huawei Mate X." And the list goes on for other companies releasing their versions of this new trending device.

Escobar Releases His Version of Folding Phone

Roberto Escobar, brother of the famous drug lord Pablo Escobar, has also followed the trend and launched his version of the folding phone. The device is called "Escobar Fold 1."

Fold 1 is an Android foldable smartphone that has Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Series CPU with two 7.8-inch screens. It also features two camera sets, including 16 megapixels and 20 megapixels for both front and back cameras.

What's more interesting on this device is its cheap retail price for only $349—way lower compared to other folding phones' ranging prices from $2000 and above. For example, Samsung Galaxy Fold was reported to cost $1,980 in the US while costing much more when it will be set up with 5G. However, Escobar explained on Digital Trends that he is not fighting with Samsung when it comes to folding phones—the company that he's more after to is Apple.

"I have told many people that I would beat Apple, and I will. I cut the networks and retailers, to sell to customers phones that can fold for only $349, phones which in stores cost thousands of dollars by Samsung and others. This is my goal, to beat Apple, and by doing it myself like I always have," said Escobar.

Feud Between Escobar Against Apple

As reported via Digital Trends, one of the major plans of Escobar is to file a class-action lawsuit against Apple that will take place on January 6, 2020. He called Apple as "scammers" and must be reprimanded due to their "worthless phones," according to Escobar.

"They are cheating the people and selling worthless phones to consumers, overpriced. My lawyers have been ready for a long time, but before I sue them and give money back to the people which they deserve, I wanted to show them that my product is much better."

Apple Plans to Launch its Folding Phone

While Escobar plans to take down Apple with a class suit, Apple is reportedly planning to launch its version of a folding phone. According to Forbes, the newest folding iPhone is slowly being created by the company—with the released design and blueprint of the said phone. However, until now, no confirmed information was released by the company.
