If you are currently own a Xiaomi brand of a security camera, you might as well turn it off first for your own safety.

This is due to a recent issue of data breach happened on one of its security camera that was currently reported via a Redditoron Jan. 2.

The account named Dio-V detailed on his account that he had seen different images of other homes on his Xiaomi security cam while trying to access on streaming from the camera to a Google Nest Hub.

These images were found to be from a strangers' house that might also be one of Xiaomi's cam users.

What's disturbing on the found images is the fact that a baby on a crib was seen on one of them along with a picture of an enclosed porch and a man sleeping in a chair.

As of now, the images were still unknown on whether whose house the pictures belong.

However, this made an alarming fuss online on whether other Xiaomi users' experienced the same incident. On the other hand, it seemed like Dio-V was the only one that had this experience with his newly purchased Xiaomi Mijia 1080p Smart IP security camera.

Still, it's kind of creepy for Xiaomi to let other users access other houses' footages, whether these are only a bug on their system or intentional data breach, especially if there's a sleeping baby on the line.

Google Nest Hub Disables Xiaomi's Integration WIth Them

Although it seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime accident of Xiaomi having owners swapped pictures from another user, Google Nest Hub already stated that they contacted Xiaomi, but the company has not yet responded to their inquiries.

Due to this, though the case was not yet fully verified since it came from Reddit, Google already made a decision to unable their Xiaomi's integration with their system.

"We're aware of the issue and are in contact with Xiaomi to work on a fix," a Google spokesperson said in a statement. "In the meantime, we're disabling Xiaomi integrations on our devices."

Security Cameras May Not Be That Secured Anymore for its Users

Though security cameras are, in fact, for security purposes, having these devices may not be as secured anymore since a lot of other issues were attached to its different brands.

In fact, the company of Wyze also had a similar incident; however, compared to Xioami, 2.4 million users of Wyze were allegedly compromised with a data breach that includes their customers' usernames, email accounts, lists of the camera, and such.

Though the case is not that viral for most Xiaomi users, we do not see any harm if you will stop using it first until Xiaomi presented their side of the story.
