Social media websites are not just made for users to message their families and friends but a way to be more creative when posting tons of pictures and videos online.

And if we talked about a social media platform for awesome pictures and videos, most people will think of Instagram.

Instagram is now only inches away from its 10th anniversary, that's why the Facebook's photo and video-sharing app decided to level up a little more and launched new features for their avid users.

Add More Tricks to Your Boomerang Videos With Instagram's New Features

If you are a regular user of Instagram, you already know what 'Boomerang' means and how it works.

For non-users, 'Boomerang' -- like how the game boomerang works-- is a one to two seconds video clip that is played in a loop.

This feature was introduced back in 2015, and the rest is history since a lot of other social media sites also adapt to the same kind of video effect.

However, though Boomerang is already coming in its 4th year on Instagram, the video and photo-sharing app seemed to be unmoved by its competitors like TikTok and Snapchat when it comes to offering something new through the use of Boomerang. However, this seemed to be changing today.

Slow-mo, Duo, and Echo on Instagram

This week, Instagram launched three new additional effects once you use Boomerang on the mobile app.

These are the Slow-mo, Duo, and Echo effects.

  • SlowMo - Play your video for at least two seconds instead of one second and reduce your boomerangs for half-speed to experience the slow-mo effect on the video. "Slows down your Boomerang to capture each detail."
  • Echo - If you want a drunk boomerang effect, this Echo feature is a great way to start. This feature "creates a double vision effect" that adds motion blur to anything that appears to be moving behind your video.
  • Duo - adds "both speed and slow-mo effect to your Boomerang, adding a texturized effect." This feature rewinds your video to the beginning that results in the glitchy type of Boomerang.
  • Trimming - Shorten your Boomerang with similar controls to iPhone's camera roll or the Instagram feed video composer. "Edit the length of your Boomerang, and when it starts or ends."

How to Access These New Features on Instagram

It is so easy to play and use these new features on Instagram. Just like when you normally access Boomerang on the app, just click the infinity sign, and there you will see the three new featured effects.

In there, you can easily edit, cut, and play your boomerang videos-- like how you like it.

After you are done editing your boomerang video, you can now share it with your friends through Instagram stories.

"Your Instagram camera gives you ways to express yourself and easily share what you're doing, thinking, or feeling with your friends. Boomerang is one of the most beloved camera formats, and we're excited to expand the creative ways that you can use Boomerang to turn everyday moments into something fun and unexpected," said by the Facebook official on TechCrunch.
