Nintendo will be hosting a live stream on January 16, 6:00 A.M PT  where they will announce the last character of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighter Pass. This will be the sixth character added to the game's roster through the Fighter Pass. Joker, Hero, Banjo and Kazooie, and Terry Bogard were all added to the roster through either the Fighter Pass or individual character's Challenger passes, with Piranha Plant being the first DLC character that was made freely available to early buyers of the game.

Nintendo is planning a livestream, which is roughly around 35 minutes long. It will feature an in-depth look into the next DLC character and will be available on both Nintendo's YouTube and Twitch channels.

While this character is the last one to be part of the Fighter Pass, it won't be the last character added to the game. Withthe addition of Banjo and Kazooie, Nintendo announced last September that they will continue to expand the available characters past the Fighter Pass. It is unknown how many more characters Nintendo is planning to add.

For those without the Fighter Pass yet, you can grab it on Nintendo's eShop for $24.99. If you only want certain characters, you can individually get each one for $5.99 each. And for those who didn't buy 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' when it launched, you can pick it up from the eShop for $4.99 as well.

A Smokin's Sexy Stylish Rumor

A comment from Reddit pointed out that the 'Devil May Cry Twitter' also posted that they have something to announce on January 16 as well. This has fueled speculation that the fifth character is probably from the 'Devil May Cry series. It seems likely then that, if the character is indeed from 'Devil May Cry', it'll be Dante (in his most recent interpretation) to join the brawl. However, it could be possible that either Nero or V joins the cast instead.

Spirit Board Event

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also have its first Spirit Board event for the year. Entitled Chain the Future to Spirits!, the event will feature spirits from 'Astral Chain,' a Nintendo Switch exclusive hack and slash. The event will introduce the Howard Twins, Lappy, and Kyle into the game as collectible spirits.

Never-ending Brawl

Nintendo seems intent in continuing support for their star-studded crossover fighter. The game has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling fighting game of all time. Its competitive scene is also growing tremendously. For EVO, the most popular fighting tournament of the year, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, has increased the entrants year after year. In 2017, 'Super Smash Bros.' WiiU and Melee had a combined entrant count of 2,950. For 2018, that number slightly dipped to 2,605. For 2019, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alone had an entrant count of 3,492. This does not count other Smash titles as they were relegated to becoming side-games in the annual tournament.

The game has also set record-breaking records for Evo's viewership. Its viewership peaked at over 249,000 viewers who tuned in to watch the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate finals at EVO 2019.
