Where To Find Heatran in Pokemon Go

The Legendary Pokemon Heatran can be found in Pokemon Gyms during raid battles around the world. Other raid battles could also have other Pokemon featured, so be sure to check first the Pokemon awaiting you in that gym.

If you can't find any Pokemon Gym featuring a Heatran in its raid battle, you could make use of Niantic's weekly 'Raid Hour' to up your chances of catching a Heatran. 'Raid Hour' is held from 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. every Wednesday, and from Jan. 17 until Feb. 4, it will always be featuring Heatran instead of any other Pokemon.

How To Catch Heatran in Pokemon Go

You could catch Heatran by joining a raid battle against it. To join a raid battle, you need a raid pass. Raid passes can be bought in the store using both real and in-game currency. One raid pass could also be gained for free in Pokestops when you rotate the Pokedisk. However, you could only carry one free raid pass at any given time, so it's still a good idea to stock up passes from the store.

With your raid pass, you could challenge a raid battle with three other people. You'll have to wait until there are four of you before you should challenge Heatran. Otherwise, your Pokemon could get easily wiped out, and then you'll have to use potions and revives before you could go fight Heatran again.

Since Heatran is both steel and fire type, you'll have to bring some Pokemon strong against those typings to be able to catch it more easily. Ground types like Groudon, Dugtrio, and Garchomp would easily take down Heatran. Water types like Swampert, Empoleon, and Feraligatr could also make short work of Heatran. Avoid at all costs bring Dragon, Fairy, and Psychic types as they won't do well against steel, and also avoid bringing grass and bug types as they'd fall easily against fire.

How To Get A Shiny Heatran in Pokemon Go

There's good reason to continue hunting Heatran in Pokemon Go even if you already have the Pokemon in your storage. This time around, you have the chance to catch a shiny Heatran in raid battles.

However, you will not be able to know whether the Heatran you'll be getting from the raid battle is shiny or not until you've caught it. Once you've captured a Heatran, you'd only be able to see if it's shiny on its status screen. The odds of getting a shiny Pokemon is still one in thousands, so consider yourself to be super lucky if you manage to capture one.
