The batteries in Apple's new $250 AirPods Pro, just like ordinary AirPods, are not designed to stay forever. Owners would likely want to replace the batteries through Apple or purchase a new pair of AirPods Pro every two or three years.

The batteries of the AirPods and AirPods Pro would eventually wear down over time to the factor that they may last minutes in preference to hours. It's been broadly reported that the AirPods purchased during Apple's 2016 release have dramatically decreased battery life due to deteriorating batteries.

According to iFixit, your pair of AirPods Pro are nearly impossible to repair yourself. To replace the tiny watch-like battery, you are probably able to take the AirPods Pro apart. However, putting them back together would be a headache. "There's nonetheless no excellent way to perfectly reassemble a dismantled 'Pod until you manifest to work inside the AirPod assembly line on the factory," iFixit said.

Here are the options to avoid paying for a new pair of 'Pods every year.

Option 1: Get the $30 AppleCare+ for Headphones insurance plan whilst you buy the AirPods Pro

For $30, AppleCare+ for Headphones will cover worn-out batteries on AirPods Pro and its charging case for two years. It costs around $150 to replace AirPods Pro and charging case batteries after AppleCare+ for Headphones runs out. 

The caveat right here is that you're covered for two years. Some AirPods owners have mentioned that their AirPods batteries were wearing out after years, making AppleCare+ for Headphones vain for battery replacements in their precise cases.

Option 2: Avail free substitute AirPods Pro hints via AppleCare+

Apple appears to be giving away free AirPods Pro replacement support to people who've taken out AppleCare+. The $29 insurance typically protects against out-of-guarantee maintenance and damage, possibly explaining the freebies.

A couple of contributors of the MacRumors members, while Apple hasn't made the announcement publicly, have reported that they received replacement tips with no rate attached. Beyond AppleCare+, of course.

If you do not have AppleCare+, you'll want to pay $3.95 to get replacement tips, and you might stroll into any Apple Store to buy some. If you do have AppleCare+, make sure to say that when calling in. Hopefully, you won't want to pay.

Option 3: Don't buy AppleCare+ for Headphones. Out-of-warranty replacements are nevertheless inexpensive than buying a brand new pair of AirPods Pro.

After the one-year guarantee expires and without AppleCare+ for Headphones, it'll cost $49 to replace the battery in every AirPods Pro, and an extra $49 to replace the battery within the AirPods Pro charging case. That's about $150 to basically get a brand new set of $250 AirPods Pro, inclusive of a new charging case.
