Samsung, the company behind the yet-to-be-launched Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone, may have inadvertently prematurely released details about the device on its online store within an undisclosed European country. Images of the new smartphone were posted on the site, revealing the brand name of this new device to be the Galaxy S20. The Samsung Galaxy S20 leaks were later removed from the website. The Galaxy S20 is scheduled to be officially launched on Feb. 11, at an Unpacked event.

Important Features of the Galaxy S20

According to the Samsung website, the Samsung Galaxy S20 has a hole-punch camera, is fitted with a gray LED case, and includes a big camera bump. There is also a centralized front camera plus three other cameras with 108MP capability.

The Galaxy range was initially dubbed "Picasso" because of highlights such as the new camera capability. The brand names of three smartphones under this series are Galaxy S20 (formerly Galaxy S11e), Galaxy S20+ (formerly Galaxy S11), and possibly the Galaxy S20 Ultra (formerly Galaxy S11+).

One of the notable features of this new series is the larger screen sizes. The new Galaxy series has a 6.2-inch screen size (for the Galaxy S20), the 6.7-inch screen size (for the Galaxy S20+), and a 6.9-inch screen size (for the Galaxy S20 Ultra). Samsung is also ready to remove the Edge display for this Galaxy series permanently.

There is also improved battery power and improved camera capabilities, which are remarkable. For the Galaxy S20 camera, Samsung added a 48MP telephoto lens, which can handle a 5x optical zoom. There is also the "Quick Take" feature that will allow one shot to be taken simultaneously from different cameras on the same phone.

However, Samsung removed the dual aperture technology (which was initially integrated into the Galaxy S9 unit) in the Galaxy S20. This is a significant change because the dual aperture technology helped the Galaxy S9 to compete with other well-received smartphones robustly. It remains to be seen whether this decision will help Samsung continue to be competitive.

Also, at least 12 GB of RAM will be integrated into this Galaxy S20 series except for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which will come with a maximum of 16 GB. This may allow Samsung smartphones to be more pleasing to the buyers. Each phone will be given 5G capability within the Snapdragon 865 feature.

Significant Downsides Revealed Through Samsung Galaxy S20 Leaks

The Samsung Galaxy S20 leaks may have some downers for fans of Samsung smartphones. For one, the microSD and headphone jacks are excluded from this Galaxy S20 series. But pricing is expected to be lower than the $1300 price range of the Galaxy S10+ released earlier in 2019 by Samsung.

It remains to be seen if the Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones will be able to powerfully compete against strong competitors such as Apple (with its planned six new iPhone iterations to be launched this year). Apple is primarily focused on its iPhone 12 smartphone, which will feature Touch ID capability, new 3D camera functions, 120 Hz ProMotion displays, and an improved design.
