A woman faced death after cooking fries. Reports stated that the woman accidentally used lubricating oil, leading to her death after she inhaled the smoke. According to The Sun's latest report, the elderly woman, Carol Oldfield, suffered from smoke poisoning after pouring a type of oil used to protect surfaces from rust and corrosion, as well as stopping squeaks, instead of normal cooking oil.

The Derby Telegraph reported that Mrs. Oldfield accidentally used 3-In-One Multi-Purpose Oil on her chips before turning in the hob in the kitchen at her Ripley Home. The 74-year-old retired machinist fell asleep for two hours after she went to another room. After she woke up, her house was full of lethal white fumes, which she, unfortunately, inhaled, leading to her death several days later.

Mrs. Oldfield was found suffering from early signs of dementia, as shown in a post-mortem result, the court was told. The woman called Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service on March 6, just after 7:00 p.m., as explained by assistant coroner Emma Serrano during the remote inquest.

According to The Sun, the woman couldn't see an escape route because the house was full of white smoke, the emergency call handler was told. Mrs. Oldfield was told by the firefighters to remain on the top floor so they could ventilate the property.

The report confirmed that an initial check found out that the old woman had suffered from a few ill effects after being taken to the hospital. According to a consultant at Royal Derby Hospital, her condition slowly deteriorated as time passed, Dr. Marco Giovannelli. The woman developed a cough after she complained about a sore throat during the next few days.

It was stated in the report that Mrs. Oldfield eventually moved to end-of-life care on Mar. 16, and then passed away two days after.

"Mrs. Oldfield put three-in-one oil on her chips, which is different from cooking oil. She turned on the hob and went into the front room and fell asleep-the room filled with white smoke, which she inhaled," summed up by Serrano.

"She woke up and called the fire service, which managed to get her out of the address, but sadly, the damage had already happened. She did not recover and sadly passed away," she added. The coroner confirmed that it was a misadventure since Mrs. Oldfiled did not intend to take her own life.

According to 3-IN-ONE's official website, the product is a multi-purpose oil that has a versatile formula that penetrates rust, protects equipment and tools, cleans off grime, and lubricates moving parts. The Sun also reported that the websites selling the product explained that the lubricant's unique set of ingredients used explicitly on metal surfaces.
