Do you believe that coronavirus did start in China? If not, an Oxford expert thinks the same. According to him, the virus could have started nowhere. He believes that the SARS-CoV- 2 may have been around for years on Earth. Humans had just woke the virus up from its long hibernation. Here's the study.

Where did coronavirus start?

So how did coronavirus really started in the world? Studies and reports told us that China had the first case of positive COVID-19. People pinpoint the tradition of Chinese people of eating exotic animals like bats, which resulted in the first case.

However, Tom Jefferson, an honorary senior research fellow at the Oxford, England-based Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine, thinks otherwise. He recently suggested that SARS-CoV-2 may not have come from China nor other countries speculated to spread the virus. It could have been prompted by nowhere in the world.

"People have tried to pinpoint: 'It comes from Russia; it comes from China; it comes from there; comes from there.' Maybe it comes from nowhere," he told CGTN's, Emma Keeling. "I am not sure that pointing to the exact geographic location is very helpful unless we have a clear idea of some particular animal/mankind interaction, which happened in a particular situation and could shed light on this situation."

The World Health Organization (WHO) had the same speculation. They said that accusing each country of being the place of origin of the Coronavirus won't help to curb the spread of the virus. So people should not start these assumptions.

Jefferson even added that this must not be the main question behind the spread of the Coronavirus. Instead, everyone should ask, "The question is, what wakes them up and what makes them aggressive?"

Coronavirus may have started in you

Aside from the theory that viruses could have just sprouted nowhere, Jefferson also claims that Coronavirus had already started way years back. This means that the SARS-CoV-2 virus could have been just out there, but humans accidentally woke it up-- resulting in a deadly pandemic.

"I think the virus was already here, here meaning everywhere. We may be seeing a dormant virus that has been activated by environmental conditions," he said.

Though bats are not yet proven to be the source of the virus, the Coronavirus may have started from something that ignited them. This means weather conditions, or other animal secretion may have been the real cause of the spread.

"They are always here, and something ignites them, maybe human density or environmental conditions," explains him.

As of now, nothing is for sure.
