According to Digital Shadows, certain hacker forums have replicated the Magic Circle's model to develop an exclusive community built upon experience, skill, and knowledge. Magic Circle is a secret community-based in London, founded 100 years ago. This secret society is extremely exclusive and hard to join.

Security Magazine reported that the English-language dark web cybercriminal forum, CryptBB, describes itself as an advanced "Cyber Security and Hacking Forum", which is powered by LongPig and Power; the forum administrators' usernames. The Onion Router (TOR) browser launched the elite hackers' forum in 2017, which is still active currently, together with other private English-language forums.

English cybercriminal community knows well the illegal forum, including the highly competent carders, hackers, and programmers. However, new hackers seem to be the only ones who are allowed to enter the forum since it was launched in 2017; the new members must follow a rigorous interview and application process. The hacker wanna-be must be able to pass the required knowledge and skillset on a chosen area of expertise. If the applicants failed to meet the required standards, they will not be included.

However, the newbie hackers still have a chance since a new forum was introduced in late 2019, which was created specifically for those who didn't pass the application process.

"Remarkably similar to a magic workshop!" said the Digital Shadows Photon Research Team. A "sub dread", which was dedicated to CryptBB, was discovered by Digital Shadows in early June 2020, on the dark web community forum, Dread.

"A sub dread enables CryptBB to reach a wider audience across the dark web (Dread has a far-reaching and loyal user base) and allows the administration team to interact with Dread members or interested applicants who wish to apply," added the Photon Research Team.

CryptBB claimed that it is the perfect forum for beginner programmers, carders, and hackers, who are willing to start their career while protecting their identity. The dark web forum also said that it still remains as a private platform for professional and long-time members who can participate in quality discussions, as well as sharing their expertise. Marketplaces were offered by the CryptBB administration team with bug-reporting and penetration testings services since May 2020.
