Apple AirPlay is one of the most used features when using Apple TV. With a touch of your fingers on your iPhone, you can easily screencast your favorite shows into a bigger screen. But one thing that's annoying in this feature is that anyone can actually have access to your TV once they're nearby. To stop all that pop-up notifications, here's what you should do.

How to stop nearby strangers to connect with your Apple TV?

If you're living in an apartment and want to watch some movies or TV shows with your Apple TV, one of the annoying things you might face is the default AirPlay feature.

This feature allows anyone with Wi-Fi access to screencast shows on your TV. Once someone wants to connect, a notification will pop in your TV set-- and that isn't very pleasant if repeated few times in a day.

In order to stop this from happening all over again, here's a simple hack you can do with your Apple TV, as per 9to5Mac website.

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Select AirPlay & HomeKit.
  • Select Allow Access.
  • Change the setting from 'Everyone' to 'Anyone on the Same Network'.

This means that anyone that has the same Wi-Fi access with yours will be the only ones that can connect to your Apple AirPlay feature. Less hassle if you're living in an apartment with few people that are so close by.

These steps are so easy to make. Before you hit the bed tonight, make sure to do this trick before you caught someone doing AirPlaying again with your television.

You can also use 'Homekit'

If you're demanding more private Apple TV for your home, here's what you can do as an alternative.

For example, you have guests at home that have your Wi-Fi access. At the same time, you don't want them to connect to your Apple TV. Here's an easier trick for you to do.

A more restrictive option will be available if you have configured HomeKit on your Apple TV: the setting 'Only People Sharing This Home' means that AirPlay is only available to nearby and set up users profiles in the Home app.

Of course, these settings are only available to all Apple TVs and Homekit speakers in your home. So make sure you have the Homekit.
