In a recent tweet by Tasha Keeney @TashaARK, it was stated that 3D printing actually unlocks the full potential of the AI design and that it seems like there are a lot of different manufacturing operations that should adapt to 3D printing in a particular form, whether through models, tools, or parts.

It was also stated that there was a lot of untapped opportunity and although additive manufacturing is currently too costly for most cars, it can rapidly create the tooling in order to accelerate the pace of innovation.

Elon Musk then replied saying that it is currently sensible to apply the technology for rocket engine parts and that to their knowledge, the current SpaceX is already 2 or 3 years ahead in the use of additives in comparison to other countries.

Tesla's job post hints growth in 3D printing industry

According to a particular job posting, Tesla is actually looking to go further in the 3D printing industry at the Gigafactory located in Nevada. The 3D printing industry's stocks, also already known as additive manufacturing, have definitely risen as of today as the whole market is currently looking at Tesla to potentially buy even more printers.

Tesla's job posting is looking for an "Additive Manufacturing Technician" over at the Gigafactory located in Nevada.

Key responsibilities Tesla is looking for

Interestingly enough, the key responsibilities of the potential technician would be to perform certain basic functions, with guidance, that are required in order to set up certain builds on different systems. They also require the technician to perform all of the functions that are related to preparation for SLA, SLS, and FDM. This includes machine turnaround as well. Two other notable responsibilities included facility-clean up and "stock parts and materials"

When reaching the requirement segment, it was clear what Tesla was looking for, it mentioned that the candidate had to be passionate about the rapid prototyping as well as 3D printing and must be self-motivated enough to manage different parallel-path objects at a time. Being meticulous to detail, well organized, and having good verbal communication skills was sought after.

What are the application requirements?

Tesla also required the applicant to be flexible and have the ability to work in a constantly changing, fast paced environment for long hours and also tight deadlines. It was noted that this includes week-ends as well as off-ours when necessary. The posting also required independence and has demonstrated the ability to successfully deliver the designs needed even under certain tight time constraints.

The qualifications require someone with 3D printing experience or experience in the whole 3D printing work environment. Customer service/interaction experience was also mentioned. 2 year degree or even a technical certificate was not required but was stated as a "plus". The skills also mentioned GD&T and also the ability to think in 3D having experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro E, CAD, Rhino, or other manipulation software.
