After previously being available only as a sort of limited beta app, according to an article by 9to5mac, the brand new Xbox app for the Apple iOS is now finally available for public on the App Store with the brand new "Remote Play" mode. This mode is said to allow Xbox owners to stream the latest Xbox One games on their very own iPhone or iPad.

Xbox for iOS? It's now possible

The known Xbox app for the iOS has apparently already been completely redesigned bringing some of the important new features that have been long awaited just like the known Remote Play mode.

Both the iPhone and iPad users that happen to own an Xbox One at the same time can actually play their own Xbox games directly through the use of their very own iOS devices via the streaming feature.

As reported by The Verge, the known Remote Play feature actually requires the use of an Xbox One in order to work as it still runs the whole game on the console and simply streams it to the Xbox app on either the iOS or Android. This is quite similar to the known PS4 Remote Play app that is available for the PlayStation 4.

All that's needed is an iOS device with a Wi-Fi, LTE, or good 5G connection

Users are said to be able to keep the Xbox One connected at their own home and then stream this whole game on either the iPhone or the iPad through the use of the Wi-Fi, LTE, or maybe even a 5G if the user already has an iPhone 12. Microsoft also makes a promise that the brand new Xbox app will function much faster and also more intuitive in comparison to the known previous version of the given app.

Microsoft, however, shows no official plans of bringing the known xCloud platform to the actual Apple iOS, which then enables the whole standalone gaming streaming through the use of the web even without having an Xbox console.

How to play Xbox One games on the iPhone or iPad

Apple then forces game streaming platforms to run through the use of Safari, which could make it quite difficult for certain projects just like the xCloud to function and operate properly through Apple's own iOS.

Another recent report by The Verge also revealed that Microsoft internally holds certain plans to bring the xCloud to the known Apple iOS. However, there is no specific release date as to an official confirmation that this is going to happen.

The new Xbox app is currently available to download for free, according to Apple,  and all you have to do is go straight to the App Store on either your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that runs at least an iOS 12 or more recent versions.
