The most valuable multinational technology company, Apple, is now on a questionable light that compromises its integrity among its customers, particularly its older iPhone users for the recent scandal. The Cupertino giant apologized for this incident and even paid an earlier settlement for users.
Apple Settlement: $113M for 'batterygate'; not Admitting to Any Violations
Apple's customers and technology executives are now criticizing the company because of its past statements that did not admit or mention anything about the Battery Health problems. This practice by Apple was initially speculated by iPhone users in the past, as a means to urge customers in upgrading to new tech.
According to CNet, a total of 34 American states joined hands in investigating the problem within the iPhone systems that stems to older iPhone version's battery quality. Degrading iPhone batteries were the main target of Apple's practices that investigators were trying to prove.
The Cupertino giant agrees to pay the settlement under the fact that it does not admit to any violations or crime that the company had done. This statement means Apple is now admitting to anything thrown at them; however, would settle for a massive amount of $113 million.
Apple iPhone 'batterygate': Arizona Gets $5 Million from Settlement
According to Arizona's press release statement, massive technology companies should stop certain practices that put its consumers and customers in unfavorable positions. Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich adds that there should be no secrets between companies and consumers regarding the tech they use.
The State of Arizona alone gets a massive $5 million from Apple's settlement, while the rest of the 34 states would equally split the remaining sum from the $113 million. States and lawmakers are now cracking down on massive technology companies and "batterygate" is only the beginning.
According to CNN, Apple publicly admitted that it purposely slowed down older iPhones which have degrading battery to match the system speeds and avoid further damage from almost three years ago on December 2017. This statement launched a massive conspiracy theory against the tech giant, having users believe that it pushes older iPhones down the drain.
Apple's Settlement: $500M for Last March

In the same issue, according to CNet, Apple initially settled an earlier lawsuit of $500 million that included paying $25 to each user affected by the problem. This lawsuit focused on problems on older iPhone models with iPhone 6, 6s, 6s Plus, SE that ran iOS 12. The company also included users of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
Apple initially apologized for the problems, saying that the company has "let down" its customers in light of the recent problems.
