"League of Legends" would not cap off the year without a bang for the platform and its players, with its announcement to release a new champion to wrap-up 2020 for gamers with "Rell, the Iron Maiden." The League is gearing up for another tank and support champion, with developers facing a massive challenge in designing her in-game horse.

Riot Games' multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) for PC, "League of Legends," is proud to announce its latest addition to the massive Champion list with Rell, the Iron Maiden, making her debut soon. The Champion would be the last-minute addition to the League where players can avail and use in-game.

According to Game Haus, the buzzer-beater Champion will soon come on patch 10.25 to see its complete public release by the first week of December. However, a Public Beta Environment, or PBE, would showcase Rell in the League for players to test out the champion starting Tuesday, November 24.

Rell, the Iron Maiden follows Seraphine, the Starry Song-Eyed Songstress, which was released last October, and Yone, the Unforgotten, which was released last August. The year 2020 brings together a culmination of Champions that aims to diversify the League that mainly relies on favorites including Yasuo, Zed, etc.

According to League of Legend's Riot Cashmir on Champion Insights, Rell is a Champion that picks up five years ago's last tank and support character, Braum. The developers plan to expand more on the support role that embodies massive health points and other tank attributes.

This new Champion completes 2020's releases for diversified roles with Lillia as the Jungler-Attack Damage, Samira as the Attack Damage Ranged (ADR), Seraphine as the Mage, Sett as the Attack Damage Champion, and Yone as the Assassin-AD Carry. Rell would play as the Support-Tank for 2020's lineup.

Moreover, the developer intends to create a tank-support with a "dark" past opposing Braum as the "Heart of the Frejlord." The Iron Maiden hails from "Noxus," which is known as the "League of Legends" menacing kingdom that led to the war against "Demacia."

Developer's Champion Insights: Rell's Challenge is the Horse

Riot Cashmir's Champion Insight for Rell's development highly regards the sophisticated backstory and design of the new "LoL" Champion. The Iron Maiden would be a Champion that is "fuelled by rage" and having a "deeper personality" than Frejlord's Braum.

Rell's horse animation gave the developers a hard time integrating its effects into the game. The Iron Maiden's design switches her from the "tankiest tank" while standing and "mounted knight" on her horse.

The team said they were attached to the "metal bending" concept, which led to Rell's creation as a horse-riding champion that wields a flat lance. The character's lore makes her a daughter of a "Black Rose" ranked soldier from Noxus who manifested "ferromancy" or metal manipulation powers. This enables Rell to control her metal horse.
